Alzheimer’s During the Holidays

4 Ways Caregivers can cope with Alzheimer’s during the Holidays:

Create a safe and calm space- simplify holiday decorations, avoid adding clutter or rearranging rooms, provide a quiet place for alone time.

Modify your holiday traditions- do crafts or watch holiday movies, keep things casual and relaxed, maintain your routine to keep things consistent and keep outings brief.

Prepare Holiday Visitors- share with guests any changes in behaviors since their last visit, and offer communication tips.

Remember self-care- Don’t overcommit, choose holiday activities that will be most meaningful to you and the loved one in your care, set realistic expectations, ask for help and make   for yourself and to do things that bring you joy.
