💜 Alzheimer’s and dementia: what’s the difference?

The terms are often used interchangeably, but they don’t mean the same thing.

🧠 Dementia is an umbrella term for symptoms that affect memory, thinking, and daily life.

💜 Alzheimer’s disease is a specific brain disease and the most common cause of dementia. Other causes include vascular dementia, Lewy body dementia, and frontotemporal dementia.

Understanding the difference is one step toward better supporting individuals and families affected by these conditions.

This National Alzheimer’s Disease Awareness Month, Seven Rivers Law Office encourages our community to learn, ask questions, and lead with compassion.
